There’s a crazed gunman at the Discovery Channel building only several blocks from me. It must be a wingnut teabagger, right? They’re all angry, hate science and are prone to violence, according to the news/leftwing chatosphere. Or maybe it’s one of those crazy flatearther global warming deniers.
Sorry, it’s neither of those. Nor is it Grant Imahara demanding a raise.
It’s actually a radical environmentalist who thinks that humans need to be sterilized because we are parasites to the planet.
So what has this stunt accomplished for the environment? Well, it’s caused significant traffic jams as police have been forced to close down many of the main roads through downtown Silver Spring, thus increasing driving time and pollution. Well done, comrade!
Saving the planet, one traffic jammed intersection at a time.

Delivered over at Big Government:
CommentsCoinciding with Earth Day, a group of teenagers launched a new program called GreenMyParents, which seeks to “help young people teach their peers and parents how to work together to help the economy, earn money at home, and save the planet through simple, everyday actions.” Looking for ways to help their families save money while protecting the environment are laudable goals, but I have some concerns. I don’t want to insult these kids by assuming that they are just puppets of any other organization, but they should be aware of the fact that many will seek to use their organization to advance their agenda.

Osama plays to the anti-capitalist, eco-nuts on the left:
Osama bin Laden sought to draw a wider public into his fight against the United States in a new message Friday, dropping his usual talk of religion and holy war and focusing instead on an unexpected topic: global warming.
The al-Qaida leader blamed the United States and other industrialized nations for climate change and said the only way to prevent disaster was to break the American economy, calling on the world to boycott U.S. goods and stop using the dollar.
It remains to be seen whether he will be as successful as Lenin in recruiting useful idiots.

The latest assault on the western lifestyle by the loony green fringe finds our soft toilet paper in the cross-hairs:
The issue over tissue in the bathroom — the really super-soft stuff — is more like the fight about the big SUVs loved by many Americans.
Anti-green, according to environmentalists. Politically incorrect. Why should Americans use luxurious toilet paper made from old-growth trees when much of the world gets by with a far more basic and often recycled product?
Americans use luxurious toilet paper because America has long promoted a system of liberty and free enterprise that has made us much more prosperous than the rest of the world. Rest assured, if they could afford better, they’d be using better.
These nutbags won’t be satisfied until we’re living in the stone age again.

Moonbattery points to this EPA procurement order:
NAICS code 332994 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Criminal Investigations Division intends to award a sole source firm-fixed-price Purchase Order to Glock, Inc. under the authority of FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures for 40 Model G-19, 9mm frame handguns with finger grove and rail frames, Tijico night sights, extended magazine catches and 3.5lb/NY1 Trigger magazines…
It is indeed disturbing to think that these econuts are running around seizing property at gun point. Moonbattery even notes, “this unelected bureaucracy is quickly metastasizing into the ecofascist equivalent of the Gestapo.”
But this is not actually a recent development. EPA has been packing since the Clinton years. They already are an “ecofascist equivalent of the Gestapo,” and have even been putting out “wanted” lists of ecocriminals since last year.

Those who react with skepticism to the proclamations from the high priests of global warming are not really skeptical. Listen up, because maybe you can learn something about yourself. Your reaction is not based on the shoddy and misleading “science” behind so-called climate change. You actually believe it, but are just too scared to admit it to yourself:
Norgaard: Climate change is disturbing. It’s something we don’t want to think about. So what we do in our everyday lives is create a world where it’s not there, and keep it distant.
…
It’s a paradox. Awareness has increased. There’s been a lot more information available. This is much more in our face. And this is where the psychological defense mechanisms are relevant, especially when coupled with the fact that other people, as we’ve lately seen with the e-mail attacks, are systematically trying to create the sense that there’s doubt. If I don’t want to believe that climate change is true, that my lifestyle and high carbon emissions are causing devastation, then it’s convenient to say that it doesn’t.
This continues a long standing pattern from the left, where they choose not to argue on the basis of ideas, but seek to marginal opponents as either industry lackeys or mentally unfit. NPR also tried to sell the same bilge from Norgaard. It is simply inconceivable to them that anyway could honestly weigh the facts and reach a different conclusion.
It’s pathetic and debasing to intellectualism that these people pretend to be thoughtful participants in the realm of ideas. They are nothing more than quacks.

CNN’s Jack Cafferty practically endorses the idea of a worldwide one-child policy, then reads emails from environmental nutbags that compare human beings to viruses. Here’s a taste:
Richard writes, ‘Wow, Jack. Thanks very much. Finally, someone in the media has the guts to state the obvious. Everything you said is true, but you were too gentle: it needs shouting out. The fundamentalists and others opposed to population control have had their way for too long.’
Sean in Belvidere, Illinois: ‘Morally, there are better ways of fighting global warming than infanticide. But sadly, this method makes more sense than carbon credits.’
…
Paul in Toronto says, ‘Jack, humans, like the H1N1 virus, are a virus, and if we don’t get ourselves under control, Mother Earth will eventually create her own vaccine and destroy us all in order to protect herself.’
These people are growing ever more shrill and dangerous. Allowing cults like this to flourish has consequences.

Discredited ideas, particularly of the Malthusian variety, never quite go out of fashion. The idea that Earth cannot sustain humanity as it exists today is back, if it ever left:
The “inconvenient truth” overhanging the UN’s Copenhagen conference is not that the climate is warming or cooling, but that humans are overpopulating the world.
A planetary law, such as China’s one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate currently, which is one million births every four days.
The world’s other species, vegetation, resources, oceans, arable land, water supplies and atmosphere are being destroyed and pushed out of existence as a result of humanity’s soaring reproduction rate.
These claims have no basis in reality. Demographic trends already show that the total planetary population will peak mid-century. The rest of the claims are equally filled with alarmist hyperbole.
The idea that we need planetary population controls, which could only be instituted under a planetary dictatorship, is ridiculous. That this was printed in what appears to be a mainstream publication is frightening.
This guy knows what he’s talking about:
CommentsIn Happer’s opinion, the carbon-control movement is really a population-control movement. He traces it back through the “Population Bomb” movement of the late 1960s all the way to the 18th-century writings of Thomas Malthus.
Other scientists have said the same, but Happer says it the loudest. He terms the IPCC crowd a “religious cult” and says, “Disagreeing with them is like going to Saudi Arabia and criticizing Muhammad.”

As Climategate continues to drive significant interest online, despite a near complete absence of media coverage, the biggest adherents to the Global Warming religion are becoming unhinged.
A professor at the university in the middle of the ClimateGate scandal called global warming skeptic Marc Morano “an a**hole” on live television Friday.
This marvelously came moments after Andrew Watson, a professor at the University of East Anglia, told the BBC host moderating the discussion that the controversy surrounding e-mail messages obtained from his school’s computers is “a real setback not because there’s anything wrong with the science, but because the character assassination and the temperature of the debate which you can just see from our colleague in America is just obsuring the important issue.”
So they’re doubling down on the same tactics: attack dissenters personally, then declare any debate as a distraction from the need to do something.
Gordon Brown says those who question the increasingly exposed junk science behind AGW theory are “flat-earthers.”
It will never dawn on them that they’re all Chicken Little’s.
Yet despite their best efforts at claiming otherwise, American’s aren’t buying it.
