Ken Connor of the Center for a Just Society wonders where Al Gore has disappeared to:

…In the face of the embarrassing Climategate scandal and an unprecedented winter season that has for the first time ever delivered measurable snowfall to all 50 states, Al Gore’s absence from the public stage has been conspicuous.  Perhaps he’s taken a page from Punxsutawney Phil’s playbook and is hibernating in hopes of a sunnier forecast come April.

The bottom line is that intelligent, responsible people are getting tired of being made to feel guilty for every carbon credit consumed and every mile-per-gallon burned, especially when it’s becoming more and more clear that the current climate change hysteria is being fueled less by solid scientific evidence than by an extreme Green ideology that – much like Agent Smith in the Matrix movies – views humanity as a virus, a plague upon the earth that must be contained and ultimately eradicated.  For the extreme enviro-ideologues, mankind’s devastating impact on the earth is a foregone conclusion; the appeal to “science” is simply a clever public relations tactic…

On the Google search page today you’ll see this:

googleclimate

The link takes you to a video made using Google Earth and narrated by the Goracle. In it, Gore’s usual global warming hysteria is highlighted with images of sea levels rising in Google Earth. The video also pushes propaganda “tours” that you can download into Google Earth. Now you can host an alarmist conference of your own, right from your home!

Despite their efforts, Copenhagen is looking so far like Nopenhagen.

Update: Talks are back on.

Those who react with skepticism to the proclamations from the high priests of global warming are not really skeptical.  Listen up, because maybe you can learn something about yourself.  Your reaction is not based on the shoddy and misleading “science” behind so-called climate change.  You actually believe it, but are just too scared to admit it to yourself:

Norgaard: Climate change is disturbing. It’s something we don’t want to think about. So what we do in our everyday lives is create a world where it’s not there, and keep it distant.

It’s a paradox. Awareness has increased. There’s been a lot more information available. This is much more in our face. And this is where the psychological defense mechanisms are relevant, especially when coupled with the fact that other people, as we’ve lately seen with the e-mail attacks, are systematically trying to create the sense that there’s doubt. If I don’t want to believe that climate change is true, that my lifestyle and high carbon emissions are causing devastation, then it’s convenient to say that it doesn’t.

This continues a long standing pattern from the left, where they choose not to argue on the basis of ideas, but seek to marginal opponents as either industry lackeys or mentally unfit.  NPR also tried to sell the same bilge from Norgaard.  It is simply inconceivable to them that anyway could honestly weigh the facts and reach a different conclusion.

It’s pathetic and debasing to intellectualism that these people pretend to be thoughtful participants in the realm of ideas.  They are nothing more than quacks.

Discredited ideas, particularly of the Malthusian variety, never quite go out of fashion. The idea that Earth cannot sustain humanity as it exists today is back, if it ever left:

The “inconvenient truth” overhanging the UN’s Copenhagen conference is not that the climate is warming or cooling, but that humans are overpopulating the world.

A planetary law, such as China’s one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate currently, which is one million births every four days.

The world’s other species, vegetation, resources, oceans, arable land, water supplies and atmosphere are being destroyed and pushed out of existence as a result of humanity’s soaring reproduction rate.

These claims have no basis in reality.  Demographic trends already show that the total planetary population will peak mid-century.  The rest of the claims are equally filled with alarmist hyperbole.

The idea that we need planetary population controls, which could only be instituted under a planetary dictatorship, is ridiculous.  That this was printed in what appears to be a mainstream publication is frightening.

This guy knows what he’s talking about:

In Happer’s opinion, the carbon-control movement is really a population-control movement. He traces it back through the “Population Bomb” movement of the late 1960s all the way to the 18th-century writings of Thomas Malthus.

Other scientists have said the same, but Happer says it the loudest. He terms the IPCC crowd a “religious cult” and says, “Disagreeing with them is like going to Saudi Arabia and criticizing Muhammad.”

That was played at the opening ceremonies of the meeting of Hopenhagen.

They have no shame.

Just in case you didn’t think I was serious about the propaganda push leading up to Copenhagen, we now get a new level of hysterics even for the chicken little crowd:

Professor Kevin Anderson, director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change, believes only around 10 per cent of the planet’s population – around half a billion people – will survive if global temperatures rise by 4C.

Anderson’s warning comes just eight days before global leaders meet in Copenhagen for the most crucial talks on climate change reversal since the Rio summit in 1992. Current Met Office projections reveal that the lack of action in the intervening 17 years – in which emissions of climate changing gases such as carbon dioxide have soared – has set the world on a path towards potential 4C rises as early as 2060, and 6C rises by the end of the century.

Anderson, who advises the government on climate change, said the consequences were “terrifying”.

“For humanity it’s a matter of life or death,” he said. “We will not make all human beings extinct as a few people with the right sort of resources may put themselves in the right parts of the world and survive.

When I began the “we’re all gonna die!” series, it was at least somewhat of an exaggeration.  Now it’s just a plain ol’ factual description of what they alarmists are saying day in, day out.

We’re all gonna die a little bit inside once the women turn to prostitution:

The effects of climate change have driven women in communities in coastal areas in poor countries like the Philippines into dangerous work, and sometimes even the flesh trade, a United Nations official said.

Suneeta Mukherjee, country representative of the United Nations Food Population Fund (UNFPA), said women in the Philippines are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change in the country.

“Climate change could reduce income from farming and fishing, possibly driving some women into sex work and thereby increase HIV infection,” Mukherjee said during the Wednesday launch of the UNFPA annual State of World Population Report in Pasay City.

Then we’ll all die from AIDS.

We’re all gonna die…unless we give up meat.

People will need to consider turning vegetarian if the world is to conquer climate change, according to a leading authority on global warming.

In an interview with The Times, Lord Stern of Brentford said: “Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world’s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.”

…Lord Stern, the author of the influential 2006 Stern Review on the cost of tackling global warming, said that a successful deal at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December would lead to soaring costs for meat and other foods that generate large quantities of greenhouse gases.

Just in case we had forgotten why we revolted and overthrew our “Lords”, Lord Sternly Stupid here set out to remind us.

And isn’t amazing how the recommended changes to “save the planet” always happen to match up perfectly with the leftist lifestyle? That couldn’t possibly be by intent, now could it? Naaaaaw…you silly wingnut denier, it’s for the planet.

I bet you didn’t know that 2016 would be the last Olympics. Turns out global warming hates competitive athletics:

Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara warned on Wednesday the 2016 Olympics could be the last Games, with global warming an immediate threat to mankind.

Tokyo is bidding to host the 2016 summer Olympics with Chicago, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid also in the running. The International Olympic Committee will elect the winning candidate during its session on Oct. 2 in the Danish capital.

“Global warming is getting worse. We have to come up with measures without which Olympic Games could not last long.

The horror!

Ninety-six months and counting until the destruction of Earth!

Capitalism and consumerism have brought the world to the brink of economic and environmental collapse, the Prince of Wales has warned in a grandstand speech which set out his concerns for the future of the planet.

The heir to the throne told an audience of industrialists and environmentalists at St James’s Palace last night that he had calculated that we have just 96 months left to save the world.

Did Al Gore lend him his trusty abacus?
