His administration is a treasure trove of pre-written comedy.

Obama’s warning came after Iran rejected a compromise proposal to ship its low-enriched uranium abroad so that it could not be further enriched to make weapons. Talk of fresh sanctions also showed that Obama is preparing for the next phase should Iran fail to meet his year-end deadline for progress in negotiations.

“They have been unable to get to `yes’, and so as a consequence, we have begun discussions with our international partners about the importance of having consequences,” Obama said at a news conference with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA. The Last Imam cultists are building nukes with which to end the world, and Obama says the consequence will be a discussion about consequences.  Hilarious stuff.

He went on:

“Our expectation is, is that over the next several weeks we will be developing a package of potential steps that we could take that will indicate our seriousness to Iran.”

Yea, that’ll show ‘em.

If I saw no signs of a divinity, I would fix myself in denial. If I saw everywhere the marks of a Creator, I would repose peacefully in faith. But seeing too much to deny Him, and too little to assure me, I am in a pitiful state, and I would wish a hundred times that if a God sustains nature it would reveal Him without ambiguity. -Pensée #229, Blaise Pascal

The more general form of the question “Is there a God and therefore how should I act?” is “How do I act with less than total knowledge of the situation, and the consequences of action or inaction.”  We face these questions constantly, though typically with lesser implications than the dilemma outlined by Pascal.  Do I buy this camera at this particular retailer, or could there be a cheaper price elsewhere?  Is this the right camera for me, or will next years model be better suited?  Can I afford it, or will I lose my job next week and regret the purchase?  Do I shell our for the expensive extended warranty, or take my chances that nothing will go wrong with it? There is an entire branch of thought dedicated to decision theory, trying to find the optimal path to the most likely beneficial conclusion without possessing Godlike insight.

Applying the first known instance of decision theory to the question of God’s existence, Pascal concluded that one had everything to gain and nothing to lose by acting under the assumption that God exists, in what came to be known as Pascal’s Gambit.  He reasoned that if God does not exist, one risks nothing by acting as if he does.  But if God does exist, one risks much by acting as if he does not.  Put simply, to the question of God’s existence, a type I error costs nothing, but a type II error potentially costs eternity.

Wow :

Jules Crittenden comments on President Sarkozy’s statement at the United Nations last week: “It’s a sad state of affairs when a Frenchman mocks an American president and you have to go with the Frog.” Here’s what the man said:

President Obama dreams of a world without weapons … but right in front of us two countries are doing the exact opposite. Iran since 2005 has flouted five security council resolutions. North Korea has been defying council resolutions since 1993. I support the extended hand of the Americans, but what good has proposals for dialogue brought the international community? More uranium enrichment and declarations by the leaders of Iran to wipe a UN member state off the map.

You know America is losing its teeth when the French President criticizes American foreign policy as being too timid.

The Europeans have always felt comfortable taking contrarian stances toward American foreign policy in the past, a luxury they knew came from the inevitability that America would eventually take care of our mutual problems regardless. But now, as Iran arms itself with nuclear weapons and the Russians begin to flex their muscles again, European leaders are having to reevaluate their enthusiasm for an emasculated USA under (mmm mmmm mmm) Barack Hussien Obama.

The U.N. wants a new global currency to replace the dollar.  I vote the zorkmid.

Michael Moore has reportedly made a new film depicting the evils of ambush documentary film-making.

Nancy Pelosi says the government option will keep the insurance companies honest.  Right.  And that dragon is just keeping the townspeople honest by burning the village down.

On the three British muslims convicted of plotting to blow up airliners with liquid explosives:

How long before Gordom Brown releases them in exchange for a new Mercedes?

There were originally 8 defendants, but the “it’s just water” defense backfired when the judge suggested the defendants drink the evidence.

On Van Jones stepping down:

I wanted to comment on his resignation, but I wasn’t sure exactly what his position was to begin with.

The only lies and vicious smears used by the right were in-context quotes by Van Jones himself.

I wouldn’t have even known this happened if Conservative Compendium hadn’t reported on it.

According to Van, Obama didn’t ask him to step down, thus revealing just how clueless this administration really is.

Youtube is now officially a right-wing hate site.

I’m concerned that a union is proposing taxes, and apparently people in the government are listening.

After the federal government put up hundreds of billions of dollars to bail out Wall Street, the largest labor union in America wants those firms to return the favor.

The AFL-CIO reportedly is promoting a proposal to tax every single stock transaction, and it’s gained some support among Democrats.

According to The Hill, the tiny tax would be about a tenth of a percent — but it could mean a lot of money for companies, like Goldman Sachs, that are making billions and conducting a high volume of trades.

Union policy director Thea Lee told the newspaper that the tax could raise between $50 billion and $100 billion annually for the federal government, but also serve to discourage “speculative financial activity.” In other words, the kind of lightning-fast trading conducted by mega-firms which critics say leads to volatility.

You know what else all that trading creates?  Liquidity.  That means that little investors like me can put in a market order and it will execute quickly at something reasonably close to the market price.  The only people the intraday volatility possibly hurts is the traders themselves when they’re on the losing side of a swing.  So what?  That’s the name of the game.

I don’t see the AFL-CIO’s angle in this.  What do they stand to gain?  How does this benefit the AFL-CIO members?

If there are 48,755,772 public school students in America, and it costs taxpayers on average $9866 per student for a 180 day school year…

…then a 15 minute speech by Barack Obama to all public school children will cost taxpayers roughly $83.5 million.  If he drones on for a full hour, the cost jumps to $334 million.

$334 million is more than the production budget for Titanic, one of the most expensive films ever made (adjusted for inflation).  Except in this case, Obama is the iceburg and America is the unsinkable ship, and nobody has the option of walking out of the theater when it starts to suck.

Where I live, the average house will bring a property tax bill of over $4,000.  Assuming this held true nationwide and was the main source of funding for public school, then 83,500 average homeowning families will shell out their property tax burden for the year just to pay for Obama’s speech.

Next Tuesday, Obama will attempt to brainwash America’s public school children.

Creepy.

While the president blabs meaningless nothings to public schoolers, private school students will reportedly be learning about math, science, and literature.

Democrats clearly have a very low opinion of the average American’s intelligence, or at least that of their dependable leftist supporters.

Organizing for America (OFA), a grassroots project of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) dedicated to supporting the President’s agenda for change, will be hosting events in all 50 states next week as part of OFA’s ‘Health Care Reform’ week of action.

Read that again, just so the doublespeak can really sink in.

Organizing for America (OFA), a grassroots project of the Democratic National Committee (DNC)

So…when the Democrat Party itself pays, buses in, and equips organizers to stand around with uniform signs bearing the Obama logo chanting talking points – this is grassroots.

When your grandmother goes to a town hall, possibly with a handmade sign, to voice her concerns that health reform might be bad for her – this is astroturf.

The really scary thing is that the media tends to copy and paste this stuff unquestioningly.  See here, here, here.

In other news, your chocolate rations have been increased from 10 grams to 5 grams.  Hail Obama!

My, my, the news is just filled with metaphoric imagery today.

In light of the ongoing health care debate and President Barack Obama’s recent reflection on the comparative cost of blue and red pills, we present this gallery of law enforcement evidence photos of a product not currently being pushed by Big Pharma. The Obama pills–usually of the Ecstasy variety–have been seized from drug dealers by cops in a variety of U.S. cities.

Interestingly, consumption of the Obama pills and consumption of Obama’s leftist rhetoric both demonstrate the same foolish desire to avoid harsh reality.

Police: Health care reform used as NY crime ploy
(AP) – 1 day ago

NEW YORK — Police say attackers used health care reform as a ruse to approach their victims and then shot two and pistol-whipped another in a Long Island home.

Suffolk County police said Saturday that a 26-year-old woman was arrested on attempted murder and burglary charges in the attack Friday in Huntington. Two men were arrested on the same charges earlier. Information on the suspects’ arraignments wasn’t immediately available Saturday night.

Police say the three told the home’s residents they were selling insurance, referring to President Barack Obama’s push to overhaul America’s health care system. Police say the suspects then forced their way in, demanded money and attacked the victims.

The victims’ conditions weren’t immediately available.

This is an actual crime.  However, I could not help but read the report as a metaphor for the Democrats’ efforts to nationalize health care.  To me, “hope and change” is interchangeable with the phrases “stick ‘em up” or “keys, wallet and watch, sucka!”.
