Racial Snitches

RS McCain describes a disturbing phenomenon:

In recent years I’ve noticed that those who most relentlessly charge others with racism are white people who, by pointing the accusing finger, seek to make a public display of their own colorblind virtue:

Not only am I not a racist, but I am such an enlightened and courageous crusader against racism as to be able to detect the hidden hate of my fellow whites and to expose and fearlessly denounce it. Admire me!

While I see the same smug self-righteousness behind much of this behavior, I think there may be another motivation as well: fear.  If you are a white liberal, then you are in the unenviable position of believing both that racism is among the worst sins possible and that you harbor racist thoughts and motivations merely by being white.  You hate yourself for your own guilt, but also fear the social punishment you so cheerfully heap on others for their perceived transgressions.

From this perspective, cries of raaacism are little different than the snitching common under Stalin’s USSR.  In their eyes, it’s either snitch or be snitched.  Accuse others of racism or admit being racist yourself.

I have liberal friends who actually say idiotic things like how lucky they feel to be born white. I really can't imagine a more racist statement or attitude. Not once have I felt lucky to be white. I've never even given it a thought. What I feel lucky is to be born free. You could be born white in the wrong time and place and still be enslaved. Freedom is what we fought for, what we founded this nation on, what MLK died for. Not entitlements based on skin color. I salute you for making an excellent point. Most liberal white guilt is a form of racism.
